There are a lot of large battery storage banks in this market, but Geneverse solar generators stand out for one reason, apart from the power. Power is power, and it is comparable between brands, one 1000Wh portable battery station is comparable with another. The thing that sets Geneverse apart is the construction of their units. They are a solid as a rock and look like they have been hewn out of granite.

Each unit also goes through 52 rigorous safety checks (U.S. Department of Energy & California Energy Commission, to name but a few), so you know this U.S. based company is serious about its products and not just in it to make a quick buck. Geneverse are headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, and their customer service is known for going the extra, extra mile.

They donated over 125 of their solar generators to the good people in the Fort Myers area after Hurricane Ian struck. They donated them to home owners, churches, schools, and communities that were left stranded by the ferocious power of the hurricane.

I have dealt with their support before, twice. They responded to my emails within a matter of hours. They are really clued in and willing to help. Nothing like having a power station in your trunk when you are on a work site with no power, or when the gas generator runs out of fuel.

When disasters strike (weather, wildfires, outages, earthquakes) and the grid won’t be up for days, you can run all your essential appliances like these below, as well as oxygen machines, without worrying the power is going to run out. If a hurricane hits, the grid can be down for days. Gas generators can stop working if you run out of fuel, and fuel will run dry if the entire area is cut off and decimated. As for charging, this power station can be recharged via three methods: solar panels, an AC outlet, or a car outlet. The fast-charging solar input can fully charge the unit within 8 hours, with 2 X 100W solar panels, given optimum sunlight conditions, making it an excellent renewable energy solution. So you can keep your power station continuously charged even as you use it.

For connectivity, It comes with multiple output ports, including 3 X AC outlets, 2 USB-C ports, 2 USB-A ports, 1 car outlet, meaning you can simultaneously power 8 devices.

On the safety front, the HomePower One is designed with several protective measures. If you want to run a lot of 500+ Watt appliances, you will need to recharge it every day with your solar panels, if you want to use it daily. Or if you have access to AC power, you can charge it at night or run it through your car port as you drive to your destination. It will be hard to get a full charge in your car, as this takes approximately 14 hours. Remember that the combined output range of the AC outlets is limited to 1000 watts, so if you plug appliances in that go over this, the power station will shut down

If you don’t think you can manage charging it 8 hours a day, you can expand the unit with an extra battery, so that will provide twice the run times of the appliances listed above. You can charge 1 battery and run the other.

Geneverse HomePower ONE Solar Generator Kits

You can also bundle it into a complete solar generator kit with several panels and batteries. There are kits that come with 1 or 2 x SolarPower ONE 100W Solar Panels. Two is definitely the better option if you can afford it as it drops the charging time down to 8 hours with solar. Sometimes you only get 5 real bright hours of sun per day, depending on your state, so if solar is your main means of recharging, it’s definitely worth the investment.

There’s nothing like waiting all day and half the night to get your power station recharged. Some days, getting a full charge with a single sun panel is impossible with low sunshine.

One of the main reasons to opt for a solar generator kit is that it is portable, unlike a home backup battery from the likes of Tesla. You can also use foldable, compact solar panels with them that can be moved and taken with you on trips. The HomePower ONE PRO increases the Wh capacity by 20% and also reduces the charging time down to a couple of hours with AC, and halves the solar times down to between 3-4 hours. This is a game changer if you use solar.

Pass-Through Charging

It’s also great if you use it as a home back up generator. As the unit also supports pass-through charging you can run multiple devices and appliances at home when the power is down, and charge it at the same time. That way you can keep the unit going continuously if you are wise with home many power hungry devices you run it with at the same time.

The run times are practically identical to the above table for the non-pro model. The reason to buy the PRO is the much longer battery life and the faster recharge times. It also has a LED light, but I’m more interested in the lifespan increase and its faster charging abilities.

So the HomePower TWO PRO can get to full power within 2 hours which is pretty impressive for a 2419Wh power station. You will need 4 x 200W solar panels to fully recharge the battery, but it will do so in an impressive 4 hours. So you could run your coffee machine, microwave and kettle non-stop when you’re on the road in your RV or off-road as you settle down somewhere for the night.

You could also run a home fridge for days, in theory non stop if you plug in your panels at the same time. The ability this unit gives you to charge the below appliances and the lengthy run times, not too mention it can handle all those smaller devices with ease, sure is a heck of a good reason to invest in this over a Jackery or Ecoflow. You can run 3 AC powered appliances at the same time (although you might have to do some ninja style manoeuvring to line them up close to the box), as long as it doesn’t top out over 4400 watts. If you are going to use an extension cord make sue its heavy duty.

The TWO Pro is more able to cater to home power needs. As these stats show.

Why should you Invest in any of the Geneverse PRO Models?

The number 1 reason for me is faster charging. Then its lifespan. The PRO batteries can last over 10 years. The non-pro models can start to fade to 80% capacity after 3 years of regular use. That’s a deal breaker for me right there. If i am going to invest some money upfront in something that’s gonna pay back in the long run, I may as well invest a few hundred more as it’ll be worth more in the long run.

Another reason is backup energy. Say for example you don’t use your power station that much. You only pull it out when you are going on a trip or have an outdoor party that you need to implement power in. So if theres an unexpected power outage but you have had the good sense to fully charge it before storing it away, Geneverse batteries can store power for at least a year. That will keep you going through grid failures and sudden storm surges.

HomePower 2 PLUS 2060Wh Power Station

Finally, Geneverse make the sleek looking HomePower 2 Plus power station. There was also a smaller capacity model named the Starter, which has now been continued.

This tall boy is designed for emergency power needs when your home grid fails. It has 9 outputs which can be run at the same time. It can be charged in 1-2 hours with a wall plug, 3-4 hours with solar panels and 7-9 hours with a car port. It has been designed to run high wattage appliances (1800-2200W) and sits on a wheeled cart for easy transportation

The look of this power station was developed by famous Nike & GOPRO designers Bill Webb and Patrick Tufts. It looks more like a sleek mini fridge or dare i say it an Apple or Dyson product. It has an ambient light that glows around the base of the unit and makes it easy to see in the dark. Something that will be very useful in power outages, when you are running minimal lighting to preserve energy.

The LED light strip is color coded and when it turns yellow this informs you the unit has less that 10% of power left. It turns red when you are down to 5%. So it’s time to hook it up to your panels or your car if there is nothing else available.

This compact machine sits at waist level so you don’t have to injure your back if you want to lift it onto a countertop or an elevated surface. It is sits on a ‘magic wheel cart’ so you can transport its nearly 50 pounds on bulk about more easily in a power outage and it has a built in top handle so you can take it up and down stairs.

It can also be charged by any existing gas generators you have. So you can charge it in your garage or outside your home and then use the 2 PLUS safely inside your home without spraying any toxic fumes.

The main difference between this and the PRO TWO model (which is around $500 more expensive), is the design. It is built for home use specifically and its tall design makes it easy to transport around your house, without you needing to bend much, especially in a power cut. The cart also helps to push it around which is good if you want to run your dryer, then your washer, then a dishwasher. Then wheel it over to your kitchen to power your blender and coffee machine.

It has 400 less Watt-hours than the PRO TWO model, but it has 1 extra AC port, bringing the total number up to 4. You can charge 9 devices and appliances with this unit as opposed to 7 on the HomePower PRO model. So it does give you that little bit more versatility that suits your homes needs, if you need to use it as a backup during an emergency.

It does have a smaller lifecycle capacity as opposed to the massive 3000 available on the PRO TWO. Honestly, its much more stylish and can be stored away easily, but I’d still prefer the PRO TWO because of it’s adaptability. It can still completely act as a home backup, but it’s a little more suited to off-grid work, as the extra watt-hours will keep you going for longer, it has an ultra fast recharge time by solar, and the battery will last so much longer, so with repeated use the PRO TWO has my vote.
