Two of the USB A slots are fast charging and USB-C is already blazingly quick. Combined with the AC sockets there isn’t much you are going to find that you can’t charge or power with it.

With a transfer switch you can use it as back up power for your home should you ever face a blackout, and it will kick in after 30ms. Ultra fast. Not fast enough for high end servers which need an instantaneous 0ms time to kick in, but not many homeowners are running a full scale internet hosting business at home.

Here are the run times Ecoflow says you will get with your MAX.

If you want to get the most of this power stations capabilities you’ll pair it with solar panels. Not only will you benefit from constant renewable energy you’ll also take advantage of blazing fast recharge times. Even when there’s not much sun about EcoFlow solar panels have a unique tracking feature that follows the sun and optimizes the charging based on the available sunlight. Just on the subject of efficiency, EcoFlow have also developed their own X-Stream charging technology that can recharge this 2kWh system to 80% capacity in 65 minutes.

EcoFlow Delta Max LCD Screen

The LCD screen isn’t the biggest in the world, and you will probably find the app more intuitive and easy to manage. You can adjust the settings that will optimize the battery for improving its lifespan. Using turbo mode all the time will not be good for the life of the battery. But it allows you to take advantage of faster charging when you need it plus it allows you to power higher wattage appliances without damaging the power station.

About EcoFlow

EcoFlow founded by Wang Lei, are based in San Francisco and have been around since 2016. But like most of the world’s’batteries and computer chips they may be designed close to Silicon Valley but they are manufactured in China, Shenzen to be precise.

Their young entrepreneur team who cut their teeth working on the batteries for DJI drones, made their way onto the Forbes 30 under 30 list in 2017. Since that time the portable power market has exploded. No longer does anyone need a rooftop massive solar installation set up if they want to provide generator electricity for the home. Solar panels are now portable and can fold up for easy storage and transportation.

Portable power is here and here to stay. What more you can take it on the move with you and power you’re off-grid adventures.

So why would you Choose Another Power Station?

This is a premium priced product but it doesn’t have a premium level battery. At 800 cycles its going to top out in a year or 2 if you are a heavy user. Bluetti make the EB3A which is only a lightweigh watt-hours contender coming in a 263Wh, its designed for less strenuous work, yet it has a 2500 battery cycle life.

Similarly Jackery pro line models have 2500 lifecycles. In particular the Jackery Explorer 2000 plus which has practically the same Wh capacity (2042Wh) and is similarly priced has an absolutely massive 4000 battery life cycle. 4000 – that is insane. When you are going to spend top money on a portable power station you want it to last with a high battery capacity good for 5-10 years.

And that is the problem, which of course EcoFlow have addressed wouldn’t you have known with their higher priced Delta Pro models. See my review of the Delta Pro here.

Why Would You Choose The Ecoflow Delta Max 2000?

One of the main reasons you would choose the Delta MAX 2000 is that it has incredibly fast charging along with a sleek design and 2400W output for powering heavy load appliances. It won’t look out of place in your home and for good or bad reasons it doesn’t even look like a power station, so it will feel just at home in a bedroom, kitchen or office space.

Smart X-Boost technology not only ensures your power station recharges quicker it also allows you to plug in high wattage appliances and limit the charging output to 2400W. That way the system won’t overload and the overprotection battery management features won’t kick in and cut out the system.

If you really want to let loose in the wild, like all solar powered power stations it’s also available as a complete solar generator package. Fantastic for taking out of the home with you and it can also keep your household going if there is a grid failure. This is something rooftop solar panels can’t provide when there is a blackout. There has to be a connected battery storage generator, because once there’s a blackout solar panels can’t store any electricity.

So if you are regularly on the move discovering the country in your RV, and can handle the 48 pounds of bulk, this is going to be a great asset. One you can charge before leaving home in under 2 hours, plus you will have the available of charging via the cigarette port in your vehicle (12V & 24V supported) as you move and also with solar panels once you set down. You can also charge with AC if you are on a licensed camp site that provides you an AC outlet.

Final Thoughts

Great connectivity, blazingly fast recharge times, brilliant as a complete solar generator kit with 2 x 400W solar panels. Looks sleek, and can work as a home back up system. But if you are sold on EcoFlow it’s disappointing that there is no LIFEP04 long lasting battery in this unit. It is not cheap, it is not a toy so if you are going to invest this high it’s worth stretching a little further for the EcoFlow Delta Pro series (reviewed here) or go for a Jackery 2000 Plus [reviewed here] if you need a similar spec’d machine with a much longer battery.

If you are really set on EcoFlow because of the styling check out the rest of the EcoFlow range before deciding if the Max series is for you, or if you can afford the Pro series its a much better but pricier option.
